Federal Grants to Pay Debts

You Cannot Get a Grant to Help You Pay Your Bills

Hello I am trying to find out if free grants are really possible for people like me and my husband.

We are in debt with medical bills (about 30000 dollars). We have no insurance. Is there a grant out there for us?

Letisha

I'm afraid not. Most organizations that give out grants do so for specific purposes, such as education or scientific research.

As far as I know, no one gives grants just because you are in debt.

For more about this, read Grants for Debt Relief.

Don't waste any of your limited resources on firms that claim they can get you a government grant to pay off your debts. They are nothing but scams.

In your situation, you might want to consider bankruptcy. Since it is required that you go through a credit counseling session first, try to find a good counselor to see if you have any other avenues of relief.

Sorry I couldn't be the bearer of better news.
